Forlì Cycling Tour: Taste the Flavors of Romagna's Countryside
Departing from the Forlì train station, this guided bike tour takes you through the countryside of the Romagna to discover the wonders of taste and nature of these lands. In addition to it, the tour has a historical imprint, which allows you to get to know important monuments such as Piazza Aurelio Saffi and the imposing Abbey of San Mercuriale in Forlì, the castle of the "City of Sun", the fortress of Castrocaro Terme, but also naturalistic, which leads us to contemplate the landscape of the Calanchi, the hills cultivated with vines and olive trees, and the important Montone river and then, having reached the halfway point, discover an important component of the local culture: wine, or as we like to call it, the "Juice of Romagna"! We'll be hosted by the Marta Valpiani staff, to go on a wine tasting experience, starting with a visit to cellar, vineyards and, finally, taste their biodynamic wines which use native vines such as Albana, Sangiovese and Trebbiano Romagnolo, but also their olive oil and local delights (such as the gentil rosso piadina). After the experience, we will return to Forlì, using secondary roads touching small villages and hamlets, such as Villagrappa and Quattro respectively. Developed in parnership with Due Ruote Forlì

The meeting point is set at Piazza Orsi Mangelli, located 500 m from the Forlì train station. Here the initial briefing and bike fitting will be carried out before departure. In the beggining of the tour we'll come across the historic center of Forlì, passing through Piazza Aurelio Saffi, the place where temporal power meets spiritual power. There will be several moments along the guided bike tour in which the guide, an expert in the area, will stop to tell you curiosities and hints of local history, for example when you reach the fortresses and castles of the Land of the Sun, or "City of Sun". We will use the additional thrust of our electric bikes to climb towards the Fortress of Castrocaro Terme, where we will stop to take photos of the local panorama. From this moment, the famous gullies become more and more present. As we go up, we will cross the rows of the estates of the Marta Valpiani winery. The climb ends when we arrive at the cellar, where the Valpiani family will welcome us for a visit to the cellar and the tasting of their delights, including the "Succo della Romagna", i.e. the biodynamic wine from the native Albana, Sangiovese and Trebbiano Romagnolo vines , as well as the gentil rosso piadine, their own-produced olive oil, local cured meats and cheeses.
After the Wine Tasting Experience, we return to Forlì crossing an undulating landscape on secondary roads that will touch fascinating monuments such as the Monte Poggiolo Fortress and small villages and hamlets, such as Villagrappa and Quattro respectively.
